Description

Cataloged by VarietyVista as DDR-002 for the 2015 America the Beautiful Quarter, this variety shows light spread north in window R3 and east in window R2 on the Homestead National Monument reverse design by Ronald D. Sanders. Die markers UVC-2092 and DMR-003 track the working die across three documented stages. Stage A shows both reverse and obverse in Early Die State, providing the crispest expression of the doubling before progressive striking wear begins softening the secondary hub impression. Stage B reaches Mid Die State with a diagnostic depression above the middle left roof, while the obverse also progresses to MDS. Stage C represents Late Die State, currently unconfirmed, where accumulated die wear would substantially diminish the visibility of the spread. The Homestead Quarter reverse depicts a log cabin with a view of the prairie beyond, commemorating the Homestead National Monument of America in Nebraska. The America the Beautiful Quarter program, authorized under the America's Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008, produced five designs annually from 2010 through 2021. Struck in copper-nickel clad composition at 5.67 grams on 24.3mm planchets, collectors should examine windows R2 and R3 under 7x to 10x magnification for subtle directional displacement.
