2015 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-001

Description

The first documented doubled die reverse for the 2015 Homestead National Monument of America Quarter in the America the Beautiful series, this variety displays very strong spread to the southwest in window R2 of the Homestead cabin depicted on the reverse. Cataloged as UVC-2091 and DMR-002, three die stages have been recorded: Stage A with reverse and obverse in very early die state, Stage B in early die state showing two small die chips on the upper left roof with the reverse in early die state, and Stage C in mid die state (unconfirmed). Notably, this variety can be found in U.S. Mint Sets, giving collectors a known source for locating specimens. The Homestead quarter honors the site of the first claim under the 1862 Homestead Act near Beatrice, Nebraska, and the strong southwest spread in the cabin window creates a visually distinctive doubled element within the architectural design.
