2015 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-012

Description

Cataloged by the Wexler Team as WDDR-012 on the 2015-P Delaware (Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge) Quarter and cross-referenced as CONECA 1-R-VIII, this doubled die reverse presents doubling as extra blades of grass on the upper right side of the middle grass strip between the great egret and the great blue heron, with additional displacement visible on the upper right end of the upper strip of grass. The botanical subject matter of the Bombay Hook design — featuring marshland grasses and wading birds — provides organic, irregular line elements where even subtle Class VIII Tilted Hub Doubling creates clearly distinguishable secondary blade impressions alongside the primary grass strokes. Obverse die markers include a small die gouge inside the lower B in LIBERTY and a small die chip inside the J of the designer's initials. The reverse carries a die chip below the great blue heron's eye — an anatomically specific marker that provides precise attribution confirmation. The 2015-P Bombay Hook quarter was struck on copper-nickel clad planchets weighing 5.67 grams with a diameter of 24.26 mm as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters program (2010-2021).
