The 2014 (P) Great Smoky Mtns National Park Quarter represents a Philadelphia Mint issue from the America the Beautiful Quarters 2010-2021 series. The U.S. Mint produced 73.2 million examples, making this ranked 6th of 15 mint variants by mintage, with 5% of production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites from each state and territory. Great Smoky Mountains (TN), Shenandoah (VA), Arches (UT), Great Sand Dunes (CO), and Everglades (FL) were honored. Great Smoky Mountains, the most visited national park, drew broad collector interest. The Philadelphia Mint, America's oldest coin-making facility, has struck coins continuously since 1792.
