Description

The 2013 (D) 5-Star Generals Commemorative Half Dollar is a commemorative half dollar struck at the Denver Mint. With a mintage of 38,095, this is a scarce commemorative issue. Part of the 5-Star Generals three-coin program, this half dollar honors Arnold, who commanded the Army Air Forces and later became the first and only General of the Air Force, and Bradley, the 'Soldier's General' who led the largest U.S. The obverse features portraits of Generals Henry 'Hap' Arnold and Omar N. Bradley with the 5-star insignia, while the reverse displays the heraldic crest of Fort Leavenworth. Designed by Phebe Hemphill. Struck in copper-nickel, weighing 11.34 grams, 30.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #517647. The 5-Star Generals half dollar recognizes two often-overlooked five-star leaders whose contributions were essential to Allied victory in World War II.
