Description

The 2012 (D) Presidential Dollar - Grover Cleveland 24th, Position A was struck at the Denver Mint as a dollar in the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 3.9 million examples, making this the lowest mintage among 16 mint variants, representing only 4% of total production. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. Serving his second non-consecutive term as the twenty-fourth President (1893–1897), Grover Cleveland is the only president counted twice in the numbering of presidencies and thus the only one honored with two separate Presidential Dollar coins. His second term was marked by the severe Panic of 1893. Arthur, Cleveland (first term), Benjamin Harrison, and Cleveland (second term) were issued. Production shifted to collector-only, ending circulation strikes. Cleveland is the only president to appear on two coins. Denver's mint evolved from a frontier assay office into one of the nation's primary coin production facilities, opening in 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $6 depending on grade and condition.
