Description
The 2012 (D) Presidential Dollar - Grover Cleveland 22nd, Position A is a dollar produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 4.1 million examples, making this ranked 3rd of 16 mint variants by mintage, with 5% of production. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The twenty-second President (1885–1889), Grover Cleveland was known as an honest reformer who vetoed more bills than all previous presidents combined. He is unique in American history as the only president to serve two non-consecutive terms, making him both the 22nd and 24th president. Arthur, Cleveland (first term), Benjamin Harrison, and Cleveland (second term) were issued. Production shifted to collector-only, ending circulation strikes. Cleveland is the only president to appear on two coins. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $6 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 77% copper, 12% zinc, 1% other over a pure copper core, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #512062.
