2011 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-002

Description

Appearing on the Position B edge lettering orientation of the 2011 Philadelphia Presidential Dollar honoring Andrew Johnson, the seventeenth President, this WDDR-002 shows doubling on the right arm just above the top fold in the sleeve. Position B refers to the orientation of the incused edge lettering relative to the obverse — when the obverse faces up, the edge text reads normally, distinguishing it from Position A where the text is inverted. The doubling on the sleeve fold was created by hub misalignment during die production, where successive impressions failed to register precisely on the Statue of Liberty reverse design. A small die gouge between the upper D in GOD and the upper W in WE serves as an obverse diagnostic, while the reverse carries a small die gouge just below the top serif of the E in UNITED.
