2009 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-005
Error
Description
Cataloged as UVC-2735 and DMR-007, this doubled die reverse on a 2009 Lincoln Cent Professional Life issue shows medium spread to the south, producing an extra upper window sill to the west of the fourth column in the Old State Capitol building depicted on the reverse. Three die stages have been documented: Stage A in early die state (unconfirmed), Stage B in early-to-mid die state showing a light die crack from the left boot tip with additional die cracks developing, and Stage C in late die state (unconfirmed). The Professional Life reverse — designed by Joel Iskowitz and sculpted by Don Everhart — depicts Lincoln standing before the Illinois Old State Capitol in Springfield, and the displaced window sill offers a clear architectural reference point for attribution. The 2009 bicentennial series celebrated four phases of Abraham Lincoln's life with unique reverse designs, and the copper-plated zinc planchets carried each design for a single year only. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint. Attributed by VarietyVista.
