2009 Atypical Die Clash ADC-1C-2009-02

Description

ADC-1c-2009(PL)-02 Here is the 2nd of the two similar PL 2009-P clashed dies; (and neither are as strong as the 2009-D PL clashed dies). The easiest way to discern the two from one another is to look at the bottom of the chin and Abe’s upper lip. die 01 has deep windows (almost an extension of his beard) below his chin; whereas die 02 has windows clashed on his upper lip enhancing the mustache. Die 01 does not have clash marks on the reverse die (die 02 has marks) nor is their abrasion lines;02 has abrasion lines but they may have been from an earlier clash and not the current one. On the reverse you can see there is a long crack with a die break on Lincoln’s shoulder and head – this along with abrasion lines and clash mark location can be used to attribute this die. At one time this die was commonly found on eBay.
