Description

Part of the Lincoln Bicentennial program that introduced four unique reverse designs celebrating Abraham Lincoln's life, the 2009 Professional Life cent depicts the Old State Capitol in Springfield, Illinois, where Lincoln served in the legislature. This DDR-002 shows a medium spread directed south that creates an extra upper window sill to the west of the fourth column on the building's facade. The architectural detail of the capitol building, with its columned portico, windows, and classical proportions, provided the fine design elements where hub displacement manifests as visible doubling. As only the second cataloged doubled die reverse for this specific 2009 reverse design, DDR-002 holds an early position in the variety record for the Professional Life issue. Die markers include UVC-2732 and DMR-004. Three die stages are documented: Stage A with the reverse in Early Die State, Stage B in Mid-Die State (unconfirmed), and Stage C in Late Die State (unconfirmed). Attributed by VarietyVista. Each of the four 2009 Lincoln Cent reverse designs was used for only one year, making their doubled die varieties unique to their respective design types.
