Description

Cataloged by VarietyVista, the 2009 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-036 on the Lincoln Bicentennial Cent shows a medium spread to the south, manifesting as an extra log end on log number 9 from the bottom of the log cabin on the Birth and Early Childhood reverse by Richard Masters. The Lincoln Bicentennial Cent is struck in copper-plated zinc at 2.50 grams and 19.05 mm diameter. Die markers are UVC-2759 and DMR-039, with three documented die states: Stage A showing a die dent next to the rim above the O of OF at Early Die State and a light die crack on Lincoln's forehead at EMDS, Stage B at Mid Die State (unconfirmed), and Stage C at Late Die State (unconfirmed). The die dent near the rim above OF provides a useful attribution marker that can be spotted even before examining the reversed doubling itself. Compared to the stronger DDR-003 of the same year, which shows doubling on two logs, DDR-036 is more subtle with its single extra log end, requiring careful comparison against known examples. The 2009 Bicentennial reverse designs generated an unusually high number of doubled die varieties due to the complexity of the four distinct reverse designs being produced simultaneously.
