2009 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-015

Description

Documented by VarietyVista with die markers UVC-2724 and DMR-018, this 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial Cent DDR-015 displays strong spread west as extra partial log ends to logs #8, #9, and #10 from the bottom — the same three logs affected by DDR-050 from the same date but with the spread direction oriented westward rather than eastward, creating a mirror-opposite displacement pattern on the Birth and Early Childhood in Kentucky reverse design. The "extra partial log ends" designation indicates the doubled images do not fully replicate the complete log end profile but produce truncated secondary extensions visible adjacent to the primary log ends. Four die stages are documented: Stage A in early die state (EDS), unconfirmed; Stage B in early-to-mid die state (EMDS) with a die crack on the roof above the window and a die crack on the forehead; Stage C in mid-die-state (MDS), unconfirmed; and Stage D in late die state (LDS), also unconfirmed. The Stage B die crack pattern — roof above window and forehead — appears remarkably similar to the Stage B markers on DDR-042 from the same date, though these are distinct working dies with independently developed crack systems. The 2009 Early Childhood reverse, designed by Richard Masters and sculpted by Jim Licaretz, depicts Lincoln's formative years in Kentucky. Struck in copper-plated zinc (97.5% zinc, 2.5% copper) weighing 2.5 grams with a 19.05 mm diameter, the Bicentennial Cent's log cabin design makes the extra log end varieties among the most systematically identifiable doubled die types in the Lincoln Cent series, as each numbered log provides a discrete, countable checkpoint that can be examined individually for the presence or absence of doubled end profiles.
