Description

Thirteenth DDR for the 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial Cent, DDR-013 presents medium spread Northeast producing an extra partial log end on log number 8 from the bottom in the "Birth and Early Childhood" reverse design depicting Abraham Lincoln's Kentucky birthplace cabin. The log cabin design by Richard Masters created an exceptionally detail-rich reverse where individual log ends, chinking between logs, and the cabin's structural elements provide precise reference points for detecting hub displacement. Die stage tracking under UVC-2722 and DMR-016 documents three states: Stage A confirms both reverse and obverse in Early Die State (EDS), Stage B transitions to Mid-Die State (unconfirmed), and Stage C reaches Late Die State (unconfirmed). The 2009 Bicentennial program issued four unique reverse designs throughout the year, each commemorating a different phase of Lincoln's life, and the "Birth and Early Childhood" cabin design generated the most doubled die discoveries of the four due to its dense architectural detail. Thirteen DDRs from this single reverse design reflect the variety community's enthusiastic examination of these one-year-only commemorative issues. Cataloged by VarietyVista, the log cabin's precise geometric features — especially the circular log ends — make DDR-013's Northeast spread readily identifiable once the collector locates log number 8 and examines for the extra partial end under magnification.
