Part of the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series, the 2009 (D) Presidential Dollar - William Henry Harrison, Position A is a dollar from the Denver Mint. The U.S. Mint produced 55.2 million examples, making this ranked 15th of 16 mint variants by mintage, with 8% of production. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The ninth President (1841), William Henry Harrison holds the distinction of serving the shortest presidency in American history — just 31 days — after dying of pneumonia contracted during his inauguration. His two-hour inaugural address remains the longest in presidential history. William Henry Harrison, Tyler, Polk, and Taylor were released. "In God We Trust" moved from the edge to the obverse, ending the "Godless Dollar" controversy. Production remained high for circulation. Denver's mint evolved from a frontier assay office into one of the nation's primary coin production facilities, opening in 1906.
