Description

The 2007 (P) Satin Finish Presidential Dollar - John Adams, Position A is a special strike dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 895,628 examples, making this ranked 5th of 41 mint variants by mintage, with less than 1% of production. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The second President (1797–1801), John Adams was a key architect of American independence who helped draft the Declaration of Independence and served as the nation's first Vice President. He was the first president to live in the White House and the father of sixth president John Quincy Adams. Inaugural year of the Presidential Dollar Program, honoring Washington, Adams, Jefferson, and Madison. The "Godless Dollar" error — coins struck without the edge-incused motto IN GOD WE TRUST — generated national headlines and collector frenzy. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Auction record: $300 SP69 09-23-2022 eBay. Struck in 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #390550.
