Description
The 2007 (P) Satin Finish Presidential Dollar - James Madison, Position B is a special strike dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 895,628 examples, making this ranked 5th of 41 mint variants by mintage, with less than 1% of production. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The fourth President (1809–1817), James Madison is known as the "Father of the Constitution" for his pivotal role in drafting the document and the Bill of Rights. His presidency was defined by the War of 1812, during which the British burned the White House and Capitol in 1814. Inaugural year of the Presidential Dollar Program, honoring Washington, Adams, Jefferson, and Madison. The "Godless Dollar" error — coins struck without the edge-incused motto IN GOD WE TRUST — generated national headlines and collector frenzy.
