2007P-1DER-001WS Trail Die Reverse

Description

Moderate fluting line extension into the stylobate under columns 1, 2, and 3, with moderate step deviation under columns 5, 6, 7, and 8 at an offset direction of 200 degrees, characterize this Trail Dies-cataloged Philadelphia Mint Lincoln Memorial Cent. Found by Bill Slaughter of Arkansas. As the primary WS trail die reverse for 2007-P, this variety holds the lead catalog position. Die markers at Stage B: obverse at MDS with a small die gouge next to Lincoln's eye and a small die scratch below V.D.B.; reverse at MDS with a die chip in column 1 and a die crack between the L and U of PLURIBUS. Trail die effects arise from partially offset die contact during press operation. Struck in copper-plated zinc at 2.5 grams and 19.05 mm during the penultimate year of Frank Gasparro's Memorial reverse, which served continuously from 1959 through 2008.

• Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – small die gouge next to Lincoln’s eye. Small die scratch is seen below V.D.B.
• Reverse is MDS – die chip in column 1. Die crack between the L U of PLURIBUS.
