Description

This Position B die orientation example of the 2007 Philadelphia George Washington Presidential Dollar shares the same WDDR-001 reverse die as its Position A counterpart, showing doubling at the intersection of the 2nd ray clockwise from Liberty's head and her right arm on the Statue of Liberty reverse. The Wexler Team attribution 2007-P $1 GW WDDR-001 applies to both die positions since the reverse die is the same physical steel cylinder regardless of obverse orientation. Obverse markers include a horizontal die scratch above the T in PRESIDENT. On the reverse, a short die gouge runs north to the rim from the top left of the M in AMERICA, short die scratches extend north-northeast from the circular line below the E and between E and R in AMERICA, and a short die gouge runs south-southeast from the dollar sign's vertical bar. Position B refers to the obverse die being rotated 180 degrees relative to the edge inscription when compared to Position A. Collectors assembling complete Presidential Dollar variety sets track both die positions separately, making this a distinct catalog entry despite sharing the doubled reverse die.
