Kevin Zaletel attributed this 2005-P Satin Finish Jefferson Nickel "Ocean in View" reverse doubled die, cataloged as WDDR-040 and cross-referenced as CDDR-031 (Wexler Variety ID: 2005 P WDDR-040 Satin Finish Ocean in View). The Ocean in View design — Joe Fitzgerald's Pacific coastline rendering with Clark's triumphant journal caption — was one of two Westward Journey Nickel Series reverses issued in 2005, alongside the American Bison carried over from 2004. Satin Finish examples were produced exclusively for the 2005 Uncirculated Mint Sets through pre-strike planchet burnishing, yielding a surface texture markedly different from both business strikes and proof coins. The CDDR-031 cross-reference in the Coppercoins doubled die catalog provides an independent documentation anchor alongside the Wexler system.
