The 2005-P dime was produced during the peak years of the 50 State Quarters program, when the Philadelphia Mint's production capacity was distributed across multiple actively changing denominations — Kansas, Minnesota, Oregon, West Virginia, and California all received their State Quarter designs that year. Despite this production complexity, Roosevelt Dime striking continued on standard copper-nickel clad planchets, and die clash events occurred when the press cycled without a planchet feeding between the dies.
