Description

Cataloged as UVC-1488 and DMR-036 in the VarietyVista system, the 2005 Philadelphia Mint Minnesota State Quarter DDR-034 exhibits medium spread producing an extra tree on the upper branches of the upper right side of the third tree in the Minnesota design. Die stage progression documents three stages: Stage A is an unconfirmed early die state. Stage B advances to early-mid die state with a die crack and die chip on the front base of the bust on the obverse. Stage C is an unconfirmed late die state. The Minnesota State Quarter reverse, featuring a lake scene with trees and a fisherman, provides distinctive design elements against which the extra tree branching is readily identifiable. The Stage B crack and chip at the bust base offer an obverse die-state marker for sorting specimens.
