Description
The 2005 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-002 is a doubled die reverse (DDR) variety, where die hubbing misalignment produced visible doubling on the reverse design. This variety was discovered on the 2005 (P) California State Quarter, part of the State Quarters 1999-2008 series. Die markers: Obverse: A die gouge can be found to the left of the lower U in UNITED. A small die gouge can be found below the right side of the R in TRUST. Reverse: A die chip can be found inside the bottom loop of the 8 in 1850. A small die gouge can be found above the top left side of the M of YOSEMITE. A short die crack runs NE from the front of the rim of John Muir’s hat. A pre-die chip depression can be found above the top front of the hat. A pre-die chip depression can be found at the top right side of the granite headwall.
