Description

The eighth doubled die reverse for the 2005-D Oregon State Quarter, DDR-008 shares the same general doubling location as DDR-007 — the volcanic landscape of Crater Lake — but represents a distinct working die with its own die markers and doubling characteristics. Die markers include UVC-1677 and DMR-010, distinguishing it from DDR-007's UVC-1671 and DMR-009. Like its companion variety, Stage A is confirmed in early die state for both reverse and obverse, with Stages B and C unconfirmed. The key to separating DDR-008 from DDR-007 lies in the die markers: the UVC and DMR numbers identify different working dies, each receiving its own independent doubling during the hubbing process. Even when two dies show doubling in the same general area, the exact spread direction, magnitude, and affected elements differ because each die's misalignment was unique. This variety also appears in satin finish specimens from 2005 Mint Sets. Donna Weaver's Oregon reverse depicts Crater Lake's Wizard Island and Watchman Peak, with the volcanic terrain providing the canvas for these doubled die varieties. Struck at the Denver Mint in copper-nickel clad at 5.67 grams. Cataloged by VarietyVista. Compare die markers against DDR-007 — UVC-1677/DMR-010 versus UVC-1671/DMR-009 — to confirm attribution.
