Description

VarietyVista records this 2003 Philadelphia Lincoln Memorial cent as UVC-3058 / DMR-012, a doubled die reverse exhibiting medium spread to the west as an extra column #7 from the knee to the foot. Unlike hand-to-foot varieties where the ghost column spans most of the statue's height, the knee-to-foot extent limits the visible doubling to the lower third of the column, requiring collectors to focus their examination below Lincoln's seated knee level. Confirmed at Early Die State (Stage A), the secondary column image should be distinct and well-defined against the recessed interior of the Memorial. The 2003 Philadelphia cent mintage of approximately 3.3 billion pieces reflects the continued high-volume production of the Memorial design's final decade. Knee-to-foot column doubling on column #7 represents a partial westward hub shift — enough displacement to register on the lower column but insufficient to double the upper portions near Lincoln's head and shoulders. This partial coverage is the key diagnostic separating DDR-009 from full-column varieties on the same date.
