2003 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-008

Description

On the 2003 Lincoln Memorial Cent, DDR-008 produces medium spread rotated counterclockwise, manifesting as an extra column at position 7 from knee to pedestal. Cataloged as UVC-3022 and DMR-011 in the VarietyVista system, three die stages have been recorded. Stage A places both the reverse and obverse at early die state. Stage B advances to mid-die-state, marked by a die crack through the C of CENT extending to the rim and a die crack on the forehead of the obverse. Stage C is an unconfirmed late die state. The extra column 7 effect, produced by the counterclockwise rotational spread, creates one of the more visually distinctive Memorial Cent reverse doublings, as the secondary column impression appears alongside the primary architectural detail. The Stage B dual-crack pattern—one on the reverse through CENT and one on the obverse forehead—provides independent diagnostics on both sides, making die-state attribution straightforward for this variety.
