Description

The 2002 (W) West Point Dollar is a commemorative dollar struck at the West Point Mint. The U.S. Mint produced 103,201 examples. Authorized to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the United States Military Academy at West Point, established in 1802. The obverse features five figures of the Academy Color Guard in parade marching toward the viewer, with Washington Hall and Cadet Chapel in the background, while the reverse displays the United States Military Academy Bicentennial logo with a plumed helmet and sword. Designed by T. James Ferrell/John Mercanti. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #21000. The West Point dollar honors one of America's most prestigious military institutions, and the precision of the Color Guard design reflects the Academy's emphasis on discipline and tradition.
