2002 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-022

Description

Twenty-second doubled die reverse for the 2002 Philadelphia Lincoln Memorial Cent, WDDR-022 shows doubling on the central left side of the seventh Memorial column to the right of the Lincoln statue's knees — a location where even slight hub displacement becomes visible against fine columnar detail. Obverse die markers include two small die gouges to the left of the top of the first two digits in the date. On the reverse, a strong die gouge sits between the bottom of the Memorial and the top of the O in ONE, with a small die gouge north of Frank Gasparro's designer initials FG. Cataloged under Wexler Variety ID 2002 1-cent WDDR-022. The seventh column area near the seated Lincoln figure has proven to be one of the most productive zones for detecting Memorial Cent doubled dies, as the small-scale statue and column elements amplify any hub misalignment into identifiable features. The strong gouge between the building base and ONE serves as an efficient first-check attribution point due to its prominent size and accessible location on the reverse design.
