Description

Recorded as UVC-3241 / DMR-009 by VarietyVista, the 2002 DDR-008 Lincoln Memorial cent features medium spread to the east, producing an extra column #6 from the hand to the ankle. Column #6, immediately left of the seated Lincoln figure, appears as the target whenever the hub shifts eastward during the die-sinking process. The hand-to-ankle span covers the vast majority of the visible column height, making DDR-008 one of the more extensive eastward varieties for this date. Confirmed at Early Die State (Stage A), the secondary column image should present clean separation from the primary without interference from die deterioration. Where the 2002 DDR-007 shows eastward column #6 doubling limited to the knee-to-foot zone, DDR-008 nearly doubles that vertical coverage — beginning higher at the hand and extending down past the shin to the ankle. Philadelphia struck over 3.2 billion cents in 2002, producing numerous working dies during the year's production run. The close spacing of columns within the Memorial interior amplifies even moderate hub displacement, making these varieties identifiable at 10x magnification.
