2002 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-005

Description

Producing a very strong counterclockwise rotational spread that creates a double extra column number 6 extending into the Lincoln statue's leg area, DDR-005 is among the more visually dramatic doubled die reverses cataloged for the 2002 Lincoln Memorial Cent. Die stage documentation under UVC-3032 and DMR-006 tracks three states: Stage A with the reverse in Early Die State and obverse in Mid-Die State, Stage B in MDS (unconfirmed), and Stage C in Late Die State (unconfirmed). The rotated CCW spread classification indicates the hub rotated counterclockwise relative to the die between hubbing impressions, and the resulting doubled column creates an architectural anomaly where an extra column appears to merge with the statue's lower body — one of the more distinctive doubled die manifestations possible on the Memorial reverse.
