Primary doubled die reverse for the 2001-D New York State Quarter, DDR-001 exhibits strong spread visible as extra fingers on Liberty's left hand — an immediately recognizable doubling location that makes this variety one of the more dramatic State Quarter DDR listings. The Statue of Liberty is the central design element on the New York reverse, and doubling on her outstretched hand and fingers is both visually striking and diagnostically reliable, since the fine parallel lines of the fingers amplify even small hub displacement. Stage A die markers include die scratches above UM of UNUM, with the obverse also in early die state. Stages B and C at mid- and late-die-state remain unconfirmed.
