Description

Spanning a substantial vertical range, the 2000-D DDR-005 Lincoln Memorial cent shows light westward spread producing an extra column #7 visible from the shoulder to the shin of the seated Lincoln figure. The shoulder-to-shin extent covers most of the column's height, beginning near the statue's upper body and extending well past the knee into the lower leg region — a more comprehensive range than varieties limited to the upper or lower segments alone. Column #7, the first column to Lincoln's right, catches westward hub displacement because any leftward shift of the secondary image overlaps this nearest architectural element. Cataloged under UVC-3466 / DMR-006 by VarietyVista, die stage progression shows both reverse and obverse in Early Die State at Stage A, Mid Die State (Stage B, unconfirmed), and Late Die State (Stage C, unconfirmed). As a Denver Mint issue, this variety originated from a working die shipped to that facility for cent production. The extensive shoulder-to-shin diagnostic zone provides a generous target area for confirmation, making this variety identifiable even on moderately worn specimens where the extremities of the column may have softened.
