2000-D Doubled Die Reverse DDR-004

Description

From the VarietyVista catalog, this 2000-D Lincoln Memorial Cent exhibits medium spread to the west appearing as an extra column number seven from the hand to the pedestal, accompanied by light spread as an extra column number six from the shin to the pedestal. The doubling of architectural columns is among the most visually striking forms of hub doubling on modern cents, as the additional column creates an unmistakable anomaly in the building's facade. The 2000-D was struck at Denver during the first year of the new millennium. Tracked under codes UVC-3446 and DMR-005 with three die stages. Stage A shows both sides in early die state. Stage B at mid-die-state is currently unconfirmed, as is Stage C at late die state. Frank Gasparro's Memorial reverse was in its forty-first year of production, and specialists had identified thousands of distinct doubled die reverses across the series by this point. Extra-column varieties rank among the most popular Memorial cent doubled dies with collectors.
