Description

The 1999 (P) Georgia State Quarter is a quarter minted at the Philadelphia Mint, within the State Quarters 1999-2008 series. The U.S. Mint produced 451.2 million examples, making this ranked 7th of 10 mint variants by mintage, with 10% of production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs representing each of the 50 U.S. states, released in the order of statehood ratification. The reverse features a peach at center framed by live oak sprigs, with an outline of the state and the motto "Wisdom Justice Moderation." The peach represents Georgia's nickname "The Peach State," while the live oak is the state tree. Inaugural year featuring Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, and Connecticut. The program instantly became the most successful numismatic initiative in U.S. history. Coined at the Philadelphia facility, the nation's original mint that has operated continuously since its 1792 founding. Estimated market value ranges from $0 to $6 depending on grade and condition.
