Description
The 1997 (S) Proof Jackie Robinson Dollar is a proof commemorative dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint. The U.S. Mint produced 110,002 examples. Authorized to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking Major League Baseball's color barrier in 1947 with the Brooklyn Dodgers. The obverse features jackie Robinson sliding into home plate, referencing his famous steal during the 1955 World Series, while the reverse displays the 50th anniversary logo of the Jackie Robinson Foundation. Designed by William C. Cousins/James Peed. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9758.
