The 1997 (P) National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Proof Dollar is a proof commemorative dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint. The U.S. Mint produced 110,428 examples. Authorized to support the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C., which honors federal, state, and local law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. The obverse features two U.S. Park Police officers making a rubbing of a fellow officer's name from the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial wall, while the reverse displays a shield representing all law enforcement with a rose laid across it, symbolizing sacrifice.
