Description

This 1997 Lincoln Memorial Cent carries the WDDR-003 doubled die reverse, with doubling visible on the lower right side of the sixth Memorial column to the left of the seated Lincoln statue's lower legs. The sixth column, counted from left to right across the Memorial facade, places the doubling precisely within the architectural detail of Frank Gasparro's reverse design. Die markers include numerous die scratches running WSW/ENE through ONE and NW/SE through CENT, providing reliable diagnostics for authentication. Attributed by Brian Ribar for the Wexler Team. The Lincoln Memorial reverse, used from 1959 through 2008, features twelve columns across the front of the Memorial building with the seated Lincoln figure visible between the central columns. The fine architectural detail of these columns makes them particularly susceptible to showing hub doubling, and the WDDR-003 variety demonstrates this with its localized but distinct doubling on the sixth column.
