Cataloged by Trail Dies, this trail die reverse on the 1995 Philadelphia Mint Lincoln Memorial Cent documents a die that produced a faint secondary image of the reverse design offset from the primary impression. Trail dies result from a particular type of die-to-die contact or mechanical anomaly during the striking process. Stage B die markers show the obverse in mid-die state with no notable features, while the reverse (also MDS) displays a die crack with a retained die break in the cornice above column 4, a die crack from the top of column 5 extending into the cornice above column 6, and a die clash visible in the lower part of bay 9. The die clash in bay 9 adds a secondary anomaly to an already interesting variety, documenting both trail die effects and a separate die-to-die contact event.
