1995 Radical MAD Die Clash MDC-1C-1995-01
Error
Description
MDC-1c-1995-01 This is by far the most common and the best known radical misaligned die clash from the last decade of the 20th century. The clash mark is represented by an impression of the edge of the field portion of the die along with some letter traces just above it. The horizontal misalignment amounts to about 30%. A vertical misalignment is also assumed as these are the only clash marks visible. The upper bar of the “F” of “oF” from UNITED STATES oF AMERICA can be seen protruding from the front of Lincoln’s coat. In early die states, the tops of the letters “ES” from STATES can be seen within Lincoln’s bust. On the reverse face, a clash mark representing the front of Lincoln’s coat can be seen passing beneath the top bar of the normal F belonging to “oF”. The only evidence of this MAD die clash on the reverse die is a line from Lincoln’s coat passing through the upper portion of the F in OF.
