1995-D Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-003

Description

Partial doubling on the 8th Memorial column distinguishes this 1995 Denver Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged as 1995-D 1¢ WDDR-003 by the Wexler Team. The doubling appears specifically on the upper right side of the column, a precisely located diagnostic requiring targeted magnification. Obverse die markers include small die gouge dots to the right of the bottom of the second 9 and to the right of the top of the mintmark. The reverse carries multiple diagnostics: a small die gouge dot to the right of the bottom of the second A in AMERICA, a die gouge just above the designer's initials FG, a horizontal die scratch on the Memorial roof north of the 5th and 6th columns, and a small die gouge inside the lower R of AMERICA. The Memorial reverse, produced from 1959 to 2008, featured twelve columns providing a grid of architectural detail where hub doubling often appears on individual column edges. The 1995-D is well known for its more famous doubled die obverse cousin, but reverse doubled dies like WDDR-003 offer their own collecting dimension. Count columns carefully from left to right, locating the 8th, and examine its upper right edge for the secondary impression.
