1995-D Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-001

Description

Attributed by the Wexler Team as 1995-D 1¢ WDDR-001, this Denver Lincoln Memorial cent shows a very close spread toward the center on ONE CENT, most visible as notching on the upper N of CENT. The designer's initials display extra thickness, the bushes on the right Memorial base show subtle doubling, and some notching appears on the lower letters of STATES OF AMERICA and EPU. Reverse die markers include a small die gouge midway between the bottom of the second U in UNUM and the Memorial top, a small gouge inside the C of AMERICA, and a heavy die scratch extending west-southwest from the Memorial bottom under the tenth column. The close spread requires magnification of 10x or higher to distinguish true hub doubling from machine doubling. The N of CENT notching serves as the quickest screening diagnostic, as it tends to be more consistently visible than the subtler spread on surrounding elements.
