1994P-1DER-002WST Trail Die Reverse

Description

Oriented at a 200-degree offset, 1994P-1DER-002WST presents strong fluting line extension into the stylobate under columns 1, 2, and 3, paired with strong step deviation under columns 5 through 9. Additional step deviation appears under the left post and urn, and trail lines extend from the bottom of the E PLURIBUS UNUM letters in the same direction as the wavy steps. At Stage B mid die state, the obverse carries a die gouge just below the U of TRUST, while the reverse shows die scratching running from the left base tip down to the O of ONE. The 200-degree offset direction is significant because it defines the angular relationship between the misaligned die and the intended strike axis — a measurement that allows researchers to compare trail die orientations across the 1994-P census and identify patterns in how dies shifted during production. The combination of strong stylobate fluting and pronounced step deviation places this among the more visually dramatic trail dies in the early portion of the 1994-P reverse sequence.
