Description
The 1994 (D) Capitol Dollar is a dollar minted at the Denver Mint, within the Modern Commemorative Dollars (1982-Date) series. The U.S. Mint produced 68,352 examples, making this the lower-mintage of the two mint variants. The obverse features designs varying by commemorative issue, authorized by Congress to honor significant American events, people, and institutions and the reverse displays designs varying by commemorative issue. Struck after the transition from silver to clad coinage, as the Mint adapted to modern production methods and record-breaking mintages. Denver's mint evolved from a frontier assay office into one of the nation's primary coin production facilities, opening in 1906. Auction record: $325 MS70 03-18-2018 eBay.
