Description
The 1994 (D) Capitol Dollar is a dollar produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Modern Commemorative Dollars (1982-Date) series. The U.S. Mint produced 68,352 examples, making this the lower-mintage of the two mint variants. The obverse features designs varying by commemorative issue, authorized by Congress to honor significant American events, people, and institutions and the reverse displays designs varying by commemorative issue. Struck after the transition from silver to clad coinage, as the Mint adapted to modern production methods and record-breaking mintages. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Auction record: $325 MS70 03-18-2018 eBay.
