Description

The 1993 (S) Proof Jefferson Dollar is a proof commemorative dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint. The U.S. Mint produced 332,891 examples. Authorized to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Thomas Jefferson's birth in 1743, this dollar honors the third President, principal author of the Declaration of Independence, and designer of Monticello. The obverse features a profile bust of Thomas Jefferson facing left, with the inscription 'Architect of Democracy', while the reverse displays Monticello, Jefferson's Virginia estate, in detailed architectural rendering.
