Description

Displaying a D/D Tilted orientation, WRPM-006 is documented by the Wexler team across two die states with comprehensive marker inventories for each stage. The Stage A obverse shows a die gouge under the U in TRUST, a chip at the first 8 in the date, die scratches emanating from IN, and a heavy gouge behind Lincoln's head. The Stage A reverse carries heavy scratches north of the memorial base near column 1. By Stage B, a likely new reverse die was introduced, bringing its own distinct markers: a die chip at the S in PLURIBUS, a gouge under the I in AMERICA, and a gouge in bay 5 of the Lincoln Memorial. This reverse die swap mid-production is a significant cataloging detail, as it means Stage A and Stage B coins share the same obverse die but pair it with different reverse dies — a die marriage change that provides an additional layer of attribution confidence.
