Cataloged as RPM-006 with VarietyVista die markers UVC-1116 and DMR-007, this 1988-D Lincoln Memorial cent displays a D/D North repunched mintmark — a directional variant where the earlier punch impression appears above the final D position, producing traces of the secondary letter extending from the top of the mint mark. Northward offsets indicate the initial punch was placed higher on the die than intended, and the correction brought the final impression downward to its proper location. This directional category is less frequently encountered than western offsets among Denver Mint RPMs, making D/D North varieties noteworthy additions to the repunched mintmark census. The variety is recorded at three stages: Stage A at EDS (confirmed), Stage B at MDS (unconfirmed), and Stage C at LDS (unconfirmed).
