1986-D Repunched Mintmark WRPM-001

Description

Supported by detailed die marker documentation across both coin surfaces, WRPM-001 on the 1986-D Lincoln Memorial cent is cross-referenced to CONECA RPM #3 and Coppercoins 1986D-1MM-003. On the obverse, light die scratches run northward from the date, a faint northeast-to-southwest die scratch appears inside Lincoln's ear, a die scratch extends southeast under Lincoln's nose, and a die gouge sits left of the first T in TRUST. The reverse carries die gouges right of and under the I in UNITED, a small die gouge (dot) between the N and U in UNUM, and a die gouge right of the right roof tip of the Memorial. This comprehensive inventory across both dies gives attributors multiple independent verification points. Struck at Denver on copper-plated zinc planchets (97.5% zinc, 2.5% copper) at 2.5 grams and 19mm, from the 1986 Denver mintage of 4,442,866,698 cents.
