1983 Atypical Die Clash ADC-1C-1983-01
Error
Description
ADC-1c-1983-01 This atypical strong die clash has the often familiar rotated clash of 5°. The overlay shows the obvious rotation and the position of the dies when they did clash. This coin is in the private collection of Aisha Shahid. The clash marks left by the reverse die show the Memorial building from the cornice down to the bottom step. Even a portion of the roof is clashed near the date. The E of ONE can be seen clashed under the O of GOD as is the C of CENT just to the lower left of the W on WE. This correlates to the strong clash mark left on the reverse die by the top of Lincoln’s head. The overlay shows the relative position of the dies when they clashed. Though not readily seen, the 5° rotation to the die has been factored into the overlay.
