Description
Produced at the Denver Mint, the 1979 (D) Jefferson Nickel is part of the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. The U.S. Mint produced 325.9 million examples, making this the lower-mintage of the two mint variants. The obverse features Thomas Jefferson facing left and the reverse displays Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's Virginia estate. Standard production continued as the Susan B. Anthony dollar was introduced in a different denomination. Coined at Denver's facility, which transitioned from processing Colorado gold rush metal to full-scale coin production in 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $0 to $5 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel, weighing 5 grams, 21.2 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #4103.
