Description

Part of the Roosevelt Dimes Clad and Silver Proof 1965 to Date series, the 1976 (D) Roosevelt Dime is a dime from the Denver Mint. The U.S. Mint produced 695.2 million examples, making this the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 55% of production. The obverse features Franklin D. Roosevelt facing left, honoring the president who championed the March of Dimes and the reverse displays a torch flanked by olive and oak branches, symbolizing liberty, peace, and strength. Struck after the transition from silver to clad coinage, as the Mint adapted to modern production methods and record-breaking mintages. Coined at Denver's facility, which transitioned from processing Colorado gold rush metal to full-scale coin production in 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $0 to $3 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 2.27 grams, 17.9 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #5150.
